About Great Bridge Service Center

Founded in 1974, Great Bridge Service Center is located at 208 South Battlefield Blvd in Chesapeake, VA as an automotive repair shop, tire center, and gas station. We have spent the last years delivering auto repairs, tires, and wheels to satisfied customers. You can come see us in person, or schedule an appointment online today from the comfort of your couch.

How We Got Our Start

The roots of Great Bridge Service Center extend back to 1967, when Dave Schloff, got out of the Marines at age 22 and started working part time at a garage/gas station in Norfolk, VA. In 1972, the owner came out to Chesapeake, VA to a community called Great Bridge and bought an Esso station with 3 service bays. Dave ran the station full time before purchasing it in 1974. That's when Great Bridge Service Center officially came into being. Over the years, our business evolved with the times from an Esso to an Exxon, and now, a Mobil station.

In the beginning, Great Bridge was a two-way street with NOTHING around. The 3 service bays we started with are now 5 service bays with two bays offering drive thru service. Today, the streets are 5 lanes and a by pass is available that goes around the main area and avoids the bridge. When Dave started, he had two employees. Now we employ a team of 17. 

You can still see Dave today. He's 70 now and still takes time to stop in everyday.
